Kinder Pony Club

This program is dedicated to Prince of Hearts, a 12.2h Welsh Cross pony. Prince  was our first and only lead line lesson pony for 9 years. In 2004, Prince developed Cushing's disease (usually not seen in ponies or horses until MUCH older) and we lost him on April 20, 2005. It was devastating for our family and for all the children and families he had touched. Yet, out of this tragedy, we realized that, while we certainly missed Prince, we also missed the enjoyment of teaching young equestrians and their families horsemanship! And so, in honor of what Prince taught us, the Kinder Pony Club idea sprang to life! Each of our ponies has some Prince-like" attributes, including kid-safe manners and a good sense of humor.

KPC Mission Statement:  To develop confident and knowledgeable horsemanship in a safe and fun educational environment for young children and their families.

DFM's Kinder Pony Club is designed for young riders, ages 3 to 8 years old. It is a program developed to expose your child to the world of ponies and horses with an experienced nurturing staff to guide them in a safe happy environment. All riding time begins as private, one-on-one lessons, which allow us to tailor individual programs for different little personalities and goals. There are yearly dues of $20.00 per student. The "year" is January - December.

KINDER PONY CLUB is a monthly program that offers three program options:

Program A:    Program A:    4 - 1 hour private riding lessons (held approximately once a week)    $200 a month
                        ** Note: months that have 5 weeks will require an additional $50 lesson fee
                        1 - 45 minute mini-group meeting - once a month (no charge)

Program B:    8 - 1 hour private riding lessons (approximately 2 times a week       $400 a month
                        Mandatory for any students that are competing at horse shows with our team.
                        **NOTE: months that have 5 weeks will require an additional $50 lesson fee
                        1 - 45 minute mini-group meeting - once a month (no charge)

Program C:    8 lessons (based on a 4 week month) as a combination of private and mini-group
                        This concept and availability will be determined by the instructor. All fees are based 
                                on combination of lessons. (see lesson info sheet for fee schedule)

Regardless of which program your child enrolls in, they  will attend monthly mini-group meetings that are geared for all of the KPC students together, as a lesson of "on the ground" horsemanship. These meetings allow your child to share of his/her experiences, learn more about ponies/horses, and interact together as a group.   We feel that this is an extremely important part of belonging to any organization and for team building.
