Monte had a very successful show career both in open Hunter/Jumper shows and Haflinger Pleasure Shows. Monte SV was our first Haflinger. He was purchased from Spring View Haflinger farm in Belafonte, PA, for our youngest daughter as green hunter pony prospect. He was green alright! At 2 1/2 years old and barely halter broke when he came to our farm and became an adventure of learning and loving everyday we had him. Monte had an uncanny way of developing a fan club everywhere we took him; whether it was an open show where he was the only Haflinger or at a Haflinger Pleasure Show - he was just a likeable guy! It is because of Monte that we decided to focus our lesson and training program on the Haflinger breed. Monte was shown by our daughter and occasionally some students; introduced to our handicap friends; used for pony rides for birthday parties; dressed in costumes for Halloween classes and in all of these events he continued to be a great example of the Haflinger spirit and a wonderful ambassador for the American Haflinger. Monte was very athletic over fences from the beginning and then also began his dressage career in 2007. In his first 5 years of showing he earned several Championships in Short Stirrup at the Hunter Shows at BCHP including "C" rated shows in 2004 and 2005; 2005 English Pleasure Champion and Champion Halter Gelding for the Northeast Haflinger Conference; 2006 Reserve Champion Hunter Pony for Bridge Acres Shows; 2007 Youth Champion Pleasure Horse and 2007 Youth Champion Equitation Horse at the Buckeye Haflinger Show; numerous other individual championships and then was invited by the Keystone Haflinger Association to the Horse World Exposition in Harrisburg, PA, in February 2008, where he represented the Haflingers in the Parade of Breeds with a daily exhibition ride. 2008 was a stellar year for Monte SV, he just kept on proving that “a little M-line” 14.1h pony can excel over and over again by winning in the Hunter ring over fences and hacking the flat classes at open shows, packing one of our Short Stirrup students to victory in the hunter arena, scoring consistently in the 70’s in his first season in the Training level dressage arena, always in the ribbons and winning several Western Classes at the Haflinger Pleasure shows, domninating by several seconds in the gymkhana classes; and romping the competition at his second Jumper show ever, with 34 entries to win the $250 Pony Prix and the speed round class with 54 entries that day, at Bucks County Horse Park in Revere, PA. He also worked super hard at the New York Gold Haflinger Classic carrying Chelsea, in English, western, dressage and in-hand and also working with another rider in showmanship and walk-trot classes, to be chosen Best of Show, in a unanimous decision, by both judges. To top off his accomplishments for 2008, he assisted Chelsea to a 2008 Junior Equitation Championship at our local Hunter/Jumper Show series and was Champion English Pleasure Horse, Reserve Champion Western Pleasure Horse, and also in the top 5 placings in the in hand Geldings and Stallions over 6 yrs old and in the top five English Walk –Trot Division for the Tri-State Triple Challenge hosted at three Haflinger Pleasure show in three states . Monte SV proved to everyone that he was an all around versatile Sport Pony Deluxe. His last performance was a musical jumping demonstration at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in January 14, 2009, where he and rider owner, Chelsea, rode into the arena to the famous beat of Joan Jett’s, I Love Rock n Roll, welcomed by a foot stomping crowd. Monte always loved people! In February 2009, just a few weeks after the farm show, Monte mysteriously became ill and was then diagnosed in acute renal failure. We lost him on February 22, 2009. We will always miss Monte SV! His memory does not fade but burns bright as we continue to train and show our Haflingers. Monte SV taught us all many important life lessons and introduced us to so many new friends! |

A Gold Review HMF |
"Ayla" | mare | foaled 2/1/05 |
| This gorgeous tall filly was bred by Hidden Meadows Farm in New York and has been shown successfully in hand for the past 2 seasons at the Haflinger Pleasure Shows; always in the top ribbons. At the double judged 2006 Twin Birch Haflinger Classic in New York she was First Place Yearling Filly under judge J. Rousseau of USA and Second Place under Judge L. Scheiber of Austria. 2007 was also a very successful year at every show ending with a second Place in hand placing at Keystone Livestock International Exposition in Harrisburg in a very competitive class. She is now starting under saddle and exudes fabulous work ethic and trainability. Look for this fabulous example of the modern sport Haflinger mare, out at Bucks County Horse Park Tuesday Evening Dressage Schooling Shows, Haflinger Pleasure Shows, The National Haflinger Show, Dressage at Devon in September 2008. | |||
A "AAA" Review HMF |
"Revi" | filly | foaled 3/9/06 |
| This petite and light colored filly captured our hearts the moment we met her at 5 months old. She is our ambassador for the Haflingers here at the farm. She greets everyone with her very engaging manners and confident air. She is fine boned, elegant filly with a HUGE personality! We have had 2 successful in hand show seasons with Revi, at the Pleasure Haflinger Shows, ending the 2007 season with her best show to date, at the Keystone International Livestock Exposition where she was the 1st Place Yearling filly in a very competitive class of youngsters and then went on the take the overall Reserve Champion Young Mare award as well. We were thrilled that she achieved this honor. She is now working very well, on her ground training in the round pen, on the long line and ground driving. She is easy to train and a delight to work with. Revi will be started under saddle in the spring of 2009. | |||
